Whether in history or nowadays,

It’s just that we’ve never calmly sat down to figure out how to display it

There’s no doubt that designers are one of the key forces.

And the significance of the

National Exhibition and Convention Center(Shanghai·Hongqiao)(“NECC”) is self-evident.

Build jointly by the National Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai municipal government.

It covers an area of 1.47 million square meters,

making it the world’s largest free-standing building and integrated exhibition center.

No matter in its architectural scale or geographic environment,

It has the potential to become a world-class platform for Eastern design.

For allowing us, a group of designers

to sit down to think about and create our life conventions.

Every September, starting in 2015, the China International Furniture Fair(CIFF)

is held in the National Exhibition and Convention Center(Shanghai·Hongiqiao)(“NECC”).

In 2016, the 38th CIFF(Shanghai) will be held from September 7-10

in the National Exhibition and Convention Center(Shanghai·Hongiqiao)(“NECC”).

The exhibition will cover 400,000 square meters,

And will include upstream

And downstream production supply chains for the furniture industry,

Including home furniture,

outdoor furniture, furniture production equipment and materials.

Approximately 2500 world-renowned companies and expected to take part in,

along with over 100,000 professional purchasers

and industry elites with commercial value.

The CIFF will stick to the ultimate goal of

marketing to create a fashionable,

globalized, multidimensional,

interactive commercial exchange platform for the industry.

The CIFF enjoys a reputation as the “Bootcamp for Brands”,

“The Commercial Center of Asian Furniture,” and the

“The weathervane of the Chinese Furniture Industry.”

Its worldwide influence and attractiveness in the industry are unparalleled.

It is always striving to create the world’s most valuable commercial platform

for furniture and the furniture industry, and to provide industry

with the broadest possible chances for cooperation and commerce.
EAST Design Show 2016 is the main focus of the CIFF(Shanghai)

-EAST Design Show

Back in 2005, ZHU Xiaojie and HOU Zhengguang curate one of the first

design exhibitions in the industry [Made From China],

an exhibition of Chinese furniture design.

Its goal was to discover brands, elevate design, promote exchange,

and reshape Chinese manufacturing.

As a decade passed by, the contemporary industry environment is vastly different from the past, but the direction of policies fits the original goals perfectly.

Hosted by the China Foreign Trade Center (Group, Shanghai (International)

Furniture Exhibition) is an industrial landmark with such kind of platform and mission,

thus this design exhibition was inevitable.

After nearly a year of planning and discussion in 2014, we initially confirmed the scope and content of outstanding Asian furniture designs

with the same principle in agreement.

For this reason, we chose the name “EAST.”

It sounds like “(意思)Interesting” and implies interesting, eastern design.

It mainly include displays of Asian brands, academic workshops,

as well as a youth bazaar. Starting from 2015,

it will be held in every September

in the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Hongqiao, Shanghai.

Themes

Eastern design has always been charming, but we have neglected to polish and present it. The EAST Design Show hopes to be able to undertake this mission,

to gather more designers ad artisans,

to sit down together to talk about their lives and creations.

When their energies are brought together,

Eastern design will be even more interesting.

The successful 2015 debut exhibition,

Brought us joyfulness as well as reflecetion.

2016 will continue to follow the ideas of the EAST.

Color becomes a theme,

Asian design,

Asian craftsmanship,

Asian color,

Like the blossoming of flowers.

Design and people,

Design and nature,

Design and life,

Just like a gentle breeze caressing the grass.

The colors of Asia are not just charming-they’re intoxicating,

This September, the EAST Design Show will face the world with a whole

new attitude,

In Shanghai,

In Hongqiao.

The LOGO takes inspiration from traffic signs.

A corner taken from CIFF hexagon.

The pencil shape represents design and craftsmanship.

Smiling curves represent “humor, interest.”

: ) this is the most common smiley face.

Black and yellow represents the colors of Asia.

Intimate, contemporary, youthful.

- Brand Show

Booths: 9

Area: Seven booths of 76.8 m^2, two of 57.6 m^2

Brands are like rivers and seas of different sizes, and designs are like various fish swimming around in the water. Different water systems give birth to different fishes, allowing the brands to promote youthful designs.

We have chosen influential, responsible, well-designed Eastern brands to participate. This exhibition will highly recommend those design directors of each brand to interpret the brand’s meaning with their thinking and ideas. Such flexible way will also encourage medias and consumers to gain a better understanding of excellent furniture brands. This makes the idea of “turning good designs in to good business” even more specific.

- Workshop Show

Invite representative and influential Asian company workshops.

Without educational reform there is no basis for design; provides a new educational system, such as the “mentor system,” or “workshops,” or “proprietary brands”….

Influential media, expresses the individuality and aims of the media with real products.

Area: 43m^2

Calling young designers from all over the world to show their own attitudes towards life and allow good designs to become good business.

An analysis of new painting technologies of Huarun Paints.

The value of online promotion

KOL share designs

-Parties

A secret party featuring all the KOLs, with unlimited drinks, endless fun, and toasts to celebrate the future of Asian design.

-Salon

A dialogue and exchange attended by brands, designers, ales channels, academies, online merchants, and buyers. Unlike past forums, this salon emphasizes the exchange of the needs of different roles in the industry, with the aim of using the resources of the design exhibition to encourage broad discussion.

Promotions

-KOL Promotions

We have KOL designers in the exhibition with strong calling as well as interesting promoters.

-Media promotions

Big “EAST” posters and symbols will be in some crucial areas of the exhibition.

Eye-catching marks will be printed on the exhibition map and handbooks.

Dozens of customized devices of “EAST” Design Show will be placed in the exhibition hall as pilots.

Bold marks will be on parts of the main aisles in the exhibition hall.

-Media Promotions

A global media promotional event, strategically using media to promote the EAST exhibition (online and offline)

-Event Promotions

Plan an event with the theme of color. Crating topics and drawing attentions.

Create interesting mini videos related to color and “East” to cause a viral spread between self-medias.

Plan a big online activity like “Chinese Design is interesting” held last year to increase participation.

Review

-2015 EAST DESIGN Show Review

On October 15, 2015, Mr. Li Deying of the China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition General Corporation led a team working in conjunction with the EAST design salon curator team to hold the debut EAST design salon wrap-up meeting. To describe the 2015 debut exhibition in a single phrase; The person with heart led a team with effort to show an exhibition that touches people’s heart.

2015 East Design Show has been accomplished. We witnessed from the very beginning till the curtain falls. Thanks again to Huarun Paint, Because all of you made it more colorful.

We also give our special thanks to brands, which made everything possible because of their unconditional support and devotion. We will devote more inputs and patience to 2016 East Design Show. Looking forward to cooperating again for the next East Design Show.

This year, The EAST Design Show will comprehensively call together designers and brands to join all-star team. Hand in hand, we’ll make EAST even more interesting.
